Pizza delivery turns violent: man arrested for assault and theft

Brandon – A pizza delivery worker was assaulted April 15 at a residence in the 1100 block of 9th Street. The incident happened at 16:10 when the driver came to order a pizza.

According to the driver, a boy opened the door initially because he had too much money to pay for the pizza. When the driver told the boy that he did not have enough money, a man came out of the house. The man shouted at the driver, pushed him and started spitting in his face.

Fearing for his safety, the driver returned to his car with the pizza. However, things escalated when a shirtless, barefoot man approached the driver's car. He opened the car door, forced the pizza, and also took the debit machine.

The police were immediately informed and reached the scene. A 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of burglary and theft. Further investigation revealed that the man had two outstanding warrants for assault and failure to appear in court.

The defendant was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on April 16, 2024.
