Many road construction projects will begin this weekend

Montreal drivers should be aware of several road closures starting this weekend.

Ville-Marie Highway

Ville-Marie Highway will be closed overnight Friday, April 19 for new pier construction, drainage systems and replacement of deck and pavement expansion joints on the road.

The project is expected to continue until 2025, with a break from late fall to late winter.

Partial or full coverage will be required during evening or weekend nights.

Also, Route 136 Exit 3 (Downtown Montreal/Guy Street) will be closed from Friday at 11:59 p.m. until late fall.

Vehicles transporting hazardous materials or over 4.4 meters in height should take the eastbound Route 136 front exit or Exit 2 (Suda).

Highway 520 (Cote de Lisse), above 43rd Ave

Reconstruction of the 520 Freeway (Côte de Lisse) overpasses over 43rd Avenue will begin on April 22, 2024 and will continue through the end of 2025.

The project will be implemented in two stages.

In 2024, reconstruction of the two-way service roads (Chemin de la Côte-de-Lisse) flyovers.

In 2025, they will work at the expressway crossing.

Closing from 22 April until the end of 2024:

-43rd Avenue between Ryan Avenue and Joseph-Dubrail Street.

-Ryan Avenue between 43rd Avenue and Reno Avenue.

-Joseph Dubreuil Street between 43rd and 46th Avenuesth Ave.

– Ramp to A-520 service road east of 43rd Ave.

Closed for three weeks starting April 22:

-A-520 right lanes in each direction.

-Left lanes on A-520 service roads in each direction.

Free shipping service

Free bus service is offered 24 hours a day to allow pedestrians or bicyclists to cross the freeway at 43rd Avenue.

The shuttle stops at the following locations:

-52nd and 32nd avenues, near the A-520 east service road.

-At the corner of Ryan and Riddle avenues.

-On rue Jean-Paul Laframboise, near the A-520 west service road.

Operation may be delayed, extended or canceled due to weather conditions or operating restrictions.

Detours may be temporarily marked and congested. The Ministry of Transport recommends that road users in the area allow extra time to reach their destination.

Drivers can refer to Québec 511 to properly plan their trips.
