Manitoba weather: The battle between spring and winter begins

A battle between winter and spring conditions began in Manitoba on Tuesday.

Colorado's April precipitation has moved into western areas this morning.

Rain will spread to Winnipeg and the Red River Valley this afternoon. 10-20 mm is possible here tonight. Brandon was able to see up to 25mm over the next few hours.

Much of the north will see rain today, changing to snow on Wednesday and continuing until late Thursday.

As this slow-moving low-pressure system moves in, cold air returns to it. That means, along with colder temperatures, clouds in Winnipeg today and tomorrow will change to a mix of rain and snow on Thursday and some snow Thursday or Friday night.

The transition to snow should be faster in the southwest. Snow is expected in Brandon by Thursday.
