Logan Maillot has a chance to make his NHL debut

The Montreal Canadiens (30-36-15) face the Detroit Red Wings (40-32-9) in their final game at the Bell Center this season. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 PM ET.

The Habs may have dropped their last game on Monday, but the highlight of the night was Lane Hutson's NHL debut. He was flawless, which was to be expected, but his attacking impact quickly came to the fore.

It took Hutson two shifts to earn his first NHL assist.

We'll take a closer look at his overall game once he's had time to read the playbook and adjust to his new settings, but for now, it's safe to say he's off to a great start to a long NHL career.

As for other prospects hoping to earn a permanent role with the Canadiens, defenseman Logan Mailloux was immediately recalled from the Laval Rockets after an overtime loss on Monday.

He is expected to make his NHL debut on Tuesday, an opportunity that will be a reward for his strong rookie season in the AHL.

MUST READ: What to Expect From Top Canadiens Prospect Lane Hutson

When it comes to red wings, this is a very simple situation.

They need to beat the Habs to make the playoffs.

Even if they win Monday's game, they can't afford another bad start against a team with only a chance to enter the draft lottery.

The Red Wings lost a significant chunk of the game, so the lowly Canadiens were able to create nine high-danger chances at 5v5, while DeRoit only created four.

Lucas Raymond is expected to lead the offense for Detroit, while the likes of JT Compher and Alex DeBrincat will complement the Red Wings' offense by running it as deep as possible in the Canadiens' zone.
