Innisfail RCMP charge man with stolen property, drugs

Innisfail RCMP say a 35-year-old man has been charged after drugs and a stolen motorcycle were found.

On April 13, patrol police officers found a driver riding a motorcycle without a license plate.

Members of the RCMP attempted a traffic stop, but the driver “did not stop and accelerated at a high rate of speed,” police said in a statement.

The motorcyclist “ran numerous stop signs without stopping and crossed other motorists.”

Then they lost control on the gravel and crashed the bike.

The driver attempted to flee the area on foot, but was apprehended a short time later.

Further investigation revealed that the motorcycle had been stolen and that its VIN had been tampered with.

RCMP also found the driver was suspended and in possession of small amounts of methamphetamine and fentanyl.

The suspect is facing charges including possession of stolen property, drug possession and evading arrest.

He is due in Alberta Court in Red Deer on April 16.
