UGM warns Manitobans about fake canvases

The Union Gospel Mission is warning Manitobans about fake canvassers going door-to-door asking for donations. UGM was recently notified by a donor in Mitchell, Manitoba, that someone claimed to have visited their home from the “Winnipeg Chapter” of the United Gospel Mission. The man at the door is described as a tall, blond man. He also presented a certificate to the host. “We do not do door-to-door campaigns or use language like 'Winnipeg Chapter,'” UGM said in a press release. “We hope that by spreading the word, people will not be inclined to give monetary donations to UGM to anyone who asks at their door.” Anyone who comes to their door claiming to be at the Union Gospel Mission is asked to call the police immediately.
