A pedestrian is in critical condition after being hit by a car in Richmond Hill

A pedestrian is in critical condition after being hit by a car in Richmond Hill Tuesday evening.

York Regional Police said the collision happened on Elgin Mills Road, just east of Bathurst Street, around 9:20 p.m.

According to the police, the car was traveling westbound and hit the female pedestrian. He was taken to the trauma center.

Police said the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene.
