Winnipeg man arrested after pre-arranged sale turned violent, leading to deadly standoff

Selkirk RCMP say on April 10, 2024, a pre-arranged meeting to sell a substance on Raleigh Street in East St. Paul, RM turned into a violent altercation and resulted in a serious two-vehicle crash. Officers are investigating the incident. arrest.

The incident began with a physical altercation between the occupants of two vehicles, a Nissan and a Dodge truck. The situation quickly got out of control and the chase turned into a disaster.

The driver of the Nissan, a 30-year-old man from Winnipeg, was arrested on charges of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm and assault with a weapon, four counts each. He was then released pending a future court appearance.

The four occupants of the Dodge pickup, also from Winnipeg, suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the crash.

Selkirk RCMP Staff Sergeant Mitch Tkachuk issued a statement regarding the incident, urging the public to be cautious when dealing with unknown individuals for transactions. “Choose a well-lit, crowded area and try not to go alone. Never enter another vehicle to complete a transaction. Always have a way to remove yourself from the situation if necessary,” he advised.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing as RCMP work to piece together the events that led up to the collision.
