Video shows armed home invasion of Markham, 2 charges

Police have released video of an armed home invasion in Markham.

Officers were dispatched to a residence near Steeles Avenue East and Henderson Avenue on April 12 at 4 p.m. for a reported home invasion.

In the minute-long clip, two suspects, one dressed in black and the other in a white hoodie, black pants and carrying what appears to be a handgun, are seen inside the home.

The footage shows the suspect, dressed in dark clothing, placing a large suitcase by the front door before returning to another part of the home.

Meanwhile, the second suspect is seen walking a few steps into the open kitchen/living room and pulling a gun down the front of his pants. He is seen walking through the living room with a firearm in his right hand before going to another part of the house.

A short time later, the two suspects are seen again near the front door of the house.

The white-clad suspect is seen tucking the gun into the front of his pants and grabbing two sets of keys from the side before both leave the house.

York Regional Police (YRP) said in a news release that a woman was approached by two armed men who entered her residence, demanded money and threatened to kill her.

The victim was not injured during the ordeal.

Police said the suspects fled the scene in a white SUV, which they reported had been reported stolen from Orillia earlier that day.

The stolen vehicle was recovered with the help of a police helicopter and members of the Toronto Police Service (TPS).

The suspects were arrested on foot at a mall in Toronto.

Wiley Gabriel, 18, of no fixed address, and Andrew Parsons, 24, both of Toronto, were charged with robbery with a firearm, willful disguise, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and mischief over $5,000. Authorities said Parsons was subject to two release orders at the time of the offense and is also wanted by Toronto police.

A York Regional Police media officer later told CP24 that the gun used in the home invasion was a “replica airsoft gun.”
