Welcome to the first edition of a new weekly series we're about to start. Published every Monday,
This week in Montreal(TWIM) will be a hub of the most important things you need to know to survive the next seven days. Hold on, I think that's about all I can do for you, so let me try again… TWIM serves as your hub for everything you need. crushing next seven days. Well, that's better. We're learning as we go here, okay?

We have weather, top news, restaurant recommendations, job postings and more. will be.

The layout and categories may change as I experiment in the coming weeks, but I hope you'll join me on this journey as we dig each week for the best and brightest gems Montreal has to offer.

THINGS TO KNOW

😎
IT'S TERRACE SEASON, baby!
Although each district has different rules, Monday marks the first official day that businesses in Plateau-Mont-Royal can open their terraces. Keep an eye out for outdoor tables and overhead awnings as the city's restaurants and bar terraces open up over the next few weeks, depending on the weather.

🏒
NEW HUB BREAKS THE ICE
The Habs play their final games of the season on Monday and Tuesday against the Detroit Red Wings. Despite finishing in last place in the Atlantic Division, with no shot at the playoffs, there's something exciting to look forward to: Lane Hutson is expected to make his NHL debut. Habs Eyes on the Prize calls it “the most anticipated Montreal Canadiens debut since Cole Caulfield.”

🌟 APPEARANCE OF FAMOUS STARS
If you're star-gazing (the human kind, that is), you don't need to go to Hollywood. On the heels of Blake Lively's visit last month, actor and comedian Eric Wareheim is hosting in Montreal, and he's been sharing his food diaries on social media as he travels around the city. More rap music than comedy? Nicki Minaj will take the Bell Center stage on Wednesday as part of her Pink Friday 2 World Tour.

The weather

Despite the Weather Network saying almost every province could see snow this week, Montrealers seem to be holding out. Ugh! 😅 Daytime highs for the week will drop to 14 degrees on Thursday and zero degrees on Tuesday night and Saturday night. On the bright side, we shouldn't see sub-zero temperatures.

☀️ Wednesday might be the best day to hang out outside if you're looking for some fresh sunshine.

☔ Bring an umbrella on Thursday and Friday.

💨 Breathe easy! Air quality is currently at the second level of “low risk”.

STAFF SELECTIONS

🍽️ WHAT TO EAT AND DRINK

Bella Sandwicheria

“Bossa has done it again, but this time with his newest sandwich spot, Bella. Located on Le Cathcart in Montreal, Bella Sandwicheria is already taking the city's food scene by storm with its new Italian-inspired sandwiches. For first-timers, the Carolina. Made with truffle and mushroom, fennel salami, truffled pecorino, arugula and fresh lemon vinaigrette , roasted eggplant, smoked caciocavallo and Teresa's famous tomato sauce, but could I eat her sauce for the rest of my life?

Super quality

“At Le Super Qualité in La Petite-Patrie, you can expect to be seated quickly even when there's a line (and it's often because it's so popular). This place offers shared South Indian dishes like dosa and thali plates. Their homemade lime soda. It's a crunchy counter to spicy food. This restaurant's focus is on delicious food and quick service.

👀 WHAT TO SEE

Baby Deer (Netflix)

“I watched all seven episodes of this limited series in one day. To be fair, they're about 30-40 minutes each, but I would have done the same if they were longer. Based on the play of the same name, and a true story,
Deer baby About the addictive relationship between a struggling comedian and his female stalker. Comparison with Phoebe Waller-Bridge Eagle,This show pulls it off in every direction, combining true-crime suspense with powerful, dramatic moments — and believe it or not, there are plenty of laughs along the way. Be warned that the series explores difficult and potentially inflammatory subject matter such as harassment and sexual assault. However, I was impressed by the show's ability to handle very complex topics with subtlety and nuance.” — Ilana Belfer, MTL Blog, Senior Writer (that's me, in case you forgot)
