TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon announces exciting additions

The news extends the excitement of race day and brings a true Event Weekend to Toronto this fall as the race celebrates its 35th year!

TORONTO, April 16, 2024 /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon is pleased to announce that it has been approved to host the 5K along with the marathon and half marathon on Saturday, October 19th. Sunday, October 20th. This news will expand the excitement of race day and bring a true Event Weekend to Toronto this fall as the race celebrates its 35th anniversary.th anniversary!

Registration for the 5K begins today, April 16th at 12:00 PM ET, with a cap of 8,000. Participants can now participate in multiple events that combine Saturday's 5K with Sunday's marathon or half marathon. Marathon or half marathon registrants will receive an email with a $10 discount code to register for the 5K.

Canada Running Series National Events Director Charlotte Brooks expressed her enthusiasm, saying, “We are excited about this development and believe it will take the TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon to the next level. It marks the next era of running in Toronto, with a full weekend of races in New York, Boston, London and Chicago, and other world marathons in Montreal, Ottawa, Halifax and Regina in Canada. It makes for a full weekend of energy and excitement; it brings more people to the city, boosts the economic impact, and allows anyone supporting a loved one doing a marathon and half on Sunday to participate in the 5K on Saturday. It will also have a huge positive impact on our TCS Charity Challenge and our Marathon Jr's Kids programs as it will be more accessible and start at 9am. 150 charities in the 5K area must hit the Fairgrounds at 7 a.m. before sunrise; now they start at 9am on Saturday at Nathan Phillips Square, with the TTC opening at 6am. It's a complete game changer!”

The new Saturday 5K will run along a downtown route, using the same Start and Finish line as the marathon and half marathon near Nathan Phillips Square.
