Smoke fills the skies of Winnipeg as firefighters battle an open fire Sunday evening

No one was injured in a fire that tore through a backyard of a commercial building in Inkster Industrial Park on Sunday evening.

The fire broke out behind a building in the first 100 block of Milner Street around 8:30 p.m., sending plumes of black smoke into the air that could be seen throughout the city.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, which was caused by construction materials. It was under control until 9pm and stopped before spreading to a nearby building.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is being determined.
