Protesters evicted from Calgary mall for vandalizing store: police

About a dozen pro-Palestinian protesters were removed from a downtown Calgary mall Monday afternoon after allegedly vandalizing a store.

In a statement to CityNews, Calgary police said they were called to the Core Mall around 12:20 a.m. after receiving a report of “disruptive behavior.”

When officers arrived, they found damage to property inside Indigo Bookstore, police said.

Photos posted on Reddit showed graffiti on the walls of the bookstore and red liquid spilled on the floor.

Twelve protesters were escorted out of the mall by officers, police said.

It is unclear who organized the protest, but police say an investigation is underway.

Indigo Stores CEO Heather Reisman has become the target of Palestinian protesters who have criticized her for establishing a fund to provide scholarships to foreign soldiers serving in the Israel Defense Forces.
