Pro-Palestinian protesters began a sit-in at the Bank of Montreal

Pro-Palestinian protesters staged a sit-in at a bank in downtown Montreal on Monday.

They entered Scotiabank near the corner of Sherbrooke and Metcalf Streets.

Montreal police were on the scene, particularly at the nearby American consulate.

Demonstrations were held around the world on Monday in solidarity with the Palestinian people as part of the international economic blockade.

Protesters targeted the headquarters of Scotiabank in Toronto, and police in Halifax said 21 demonstrators were arrested.

The organizers said that it is necessary to move from symbolic actions to actions that destroy the economy.
