Okotoks RCMP arrest pair of suspected Calgary car thieves – OkotoksOnline.com

On April 15 at approximately 2 p.m., Okotoks RCMP responded to a reported stolen vehicle being driven into town on Highway 2A near 338 East Avenue.

The vehicle had been reported stolen from a car dealership in Calgary earlier in the day and with the assistance of the Calgary Police Service Air Services (HAWCS), police were tracking the vehicle's movements.

Once in Okotoks, a short foot chase ensued in the Cimarron neighborhood and a lone male was taken into custody.

The Calgary Police Service (CPS) HAWCS also identified a second vehicle located in the Westmount Center Business Park on Southridge Drive in Okotoks as an accomplice.

Okotoks RCMP located the driver of the second vehicle on the sidewalk near the business park, and with the assistance of the CPS canine unit, officers took the driver into custody without incident.

Both vehicles the two were driving were found to be stolen and both were turned over to the Calgary Police Service for further investigation.

Both drivers are Calgary residents.

Okotoks RCMP have already cleared the scenes and there will be no further disruptions to traffic and businesses.

No further updates will be provided on this investigation.
