That's what happened to Luke Tuch just days after teammate Lane Hutson signed his first contract with the Montreal Canadiens. There was concern that he might decide to test free agency instead, but that was put to bed.

The NHL contract begins next season and lasts for two years. He signed a one-year, one-way AHL contract with the Laval Rocket for the remainder of the season and will finish the year with them. They have two games that could potentially make the playoffs on Friday and Saturday.

Selected 47th overall by Canadians in the 2020 NHL Draft, Tuch has since thrived for four seasons in the NCAA. He showed some improvement during his senior season at Boston University, posting 10 goals and 20 assists in 39 games before they were eliminated from the Frozen Four.

A bigger body and a solid line-forward presence, Tuch will hopefully add some bite to the forward group in Laval and look to earn a spot in the Canadiens' bottom six over the next few seasons.
