Food Inflation in Canada: How Are You Coping With Rising Prices?

According to a Farm Credit Canada report, Canadians continue to brace for higher food prices, despite food inflation expected to fall below two per cent in the spring.

However, a slowdown in inflation does not mean that overall prices will fall. In its latest release, Statistics Canada noted that between February 2021 and February 2024, food prices rose by about 22 percent.

According to a survey conducted by Nanos Research for CTV News, Canadians blame grocery stores more than anything else for rising food prices.

Thirty-two percent of those surveyed said grocery stores were the No. 1 reason for skyrocketing food prices, up from 28 percent in 2023.

According to the FCC, Canadians have been cutting back on food and beverage spending.

CTVNews.ca wants to talk to Canadians about whether their eating habits have changed amid rising food prices and the cost of living.

What foods are too expensive? What foods have you eliminated from the grocery store? Have you changed your eating habits and consumption? What food tips have you incorporated to help keep costs down? Considering the cost of food, do you approach gardening or gardening differently?
