Carol Charles | CTV News

Carol Charles is a video journalist for CTV News Toronto, specializing in paranormal stories from the Greater Toronto Area.

Charles joined CTV News Toronto in October 2000 as a general assignment reporter. Since then, he has served as host, moderator and speaker at more than 44 political forums, charity events and community groups. Today, he continues to report, shoot, write stories and edit.

Prior to joining CTV News Toronto, Charles began his journalism career at Rogers Cable in the Durham area before moving to CHEX Television in Oshawa. Charles honed his reporting skills at both stations and developed experience covering local events.

He is dedicated to the community, with his numerous volunteer activities for various charities and local outreach organizations, including the Toronto Raptors, United Way Toronto and The Black Business and Professional Association's Harry Jerome Awards.

True to his Trinidadian roots, Charles is a leading member of the CTV Caribbean Carnival Volunteer Committee, coordinating staff participation in Toronto's annual celebration of Caribbean Carnival and culture.

He is also the founder of Accessible Media Inc., which strives to make media accessible to Canada's 5.1 million blind cable listeners. is a volunteer reader of the unique service “Print with Voice”.

His commitment to public service was recognized by the community Toronto Sun 1997 Woman on the Move Award and 1998 Oshawa YWCA Woman of the Year and 2012 Black History Month Award for Excellence in Police and Community Service.

Charles enjoys playing indoor and beach volleyball and is a huge supporter of NCAA college basketball. He speaks English and holds a Bachelor of Arts and Science from York University and a Certificate in Radio and Television Arts from Seneca College.
