A man has been charged with assault after police say he attacked a woman at a Calgary dog ​​park

A 62-year-old man has been charged after attacking a woman at a southeast Calgary dog ​​park last week.

On Wednesday at approximately 12:30 p.m., police responded to 9770 – 15 St. Sue Higgins of SE said a woman was walking her dog in the park.

Police initially said the dog, which belonged to an unidentified man, attacked the woman's dog. But in an update late Sunday, police said their investigation showed the dog was aggressive toward the woman's dog, but there was no physical attack.

According to the police, a quarrel started between a man and a woman. When the woman tried to record the interaction on her cell phone, police say the man grabbed the phone from her hand, pushed her to the ground and physically assaulted her.

The woman screamed, and the man grabbed the cell phone and threw her over the fence before leaving the area, police said.

The police are looking for the suspect, and the man turned himself in to the police on Saturday.

Zolt Baktai, 62, of Calgary, was charged with one count each of assault causing bodily harm and menacing.

Baktay is scheduled to appear in court on May 23.
