Winnipeg Police Homicide Update Maxime Dale GARNOA has been charged with two counts of murder

Update – Homicide Investigation: Arrest C23-220195 C24-60911

WINNIPEG – NEWS – OOn September 10, 2023, at approximately 6:45 p.m., Winnipeg Police General Patrol officers and the Tactical Support Team responded to the 200 block of College Avenue for a report of a man shot.

An adult man suffered from a gunshot wound outside an apartment building. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition and died from his injuries.

The identity of the deceased has been established Daniel Raymond HARVEY-RODRIQUEZ, 25, of Winnipeg.

In a separate incident, on March 18, 2024, at approximately 4:40 p.m., Winnipeg Police responded to a residence in the 1200 block of Selkirk Avenue for a deceased male victim of a gunshot wound.

The identity of the deceased has been established Edgar Allan BEAR, aged 56 yearsa member of the Peguis First Nation currently living in Winnipeg.

Homicide officers continued both investigations.

Maxime Dale GARNOO, 27, was identified as a suspect in both murders. Two charges were laid after consultation with the Manitoba Prosecutor's Office Second degree murder allowed and an arrest warrant was issued. The public was notified and asked for help in locating the suspect.

On April 11, 2024, at approximately 8:20 p.m., officers located GARNEAU within the city limits of Winnipeg and arrested him on two warrants. During the arrest, a loaded gun was found hidden in GARNEAU's backpack. He was safely taken into custody and the weapon/ammunition was confiscated.

GARNEAU was charged with:

– Second Degree Murder x 2

– Concealed carrying of prohibited weapons or ammunition

– Possession of weapons

– Knowingly possessing firearms is not allowed

– change the serial number of the firearm

– Possession of a firearm, restricted/prohibited weapon or ammunition in violation of a probation order

– Possession of prohibited or restricted firearms

He was imprisoned in a temporary detention facility.
