The Shaadi Show in Montreal presents the latest wedding trends in South Asia

The ninth edition of the Montreal Shaadi Show was held on Sunday.

It is the largest South Asian wedding show in Montreal with over 4,000 people attending each year.

Seventy-five vendors from Montreal and Toronto showcased the latest South Asian fashion trends in clothing, hair, makeup and jewelry.

Catering services were provided as well as a variety of professional wedding photography and video services.

“What makes the Shaadi Show special is that South Asian vendors offer all the services couples are looking for on their big day, whether it's a wedding or a party,” said Sonia Masand, spokesperson for the event.

“There are a lot of unique pieces that South Asians need to put their events together. We have a one-stop shop for everything you need.''

“Shaadi” is a Hindi word that means marriage.

Sunday's Shaadi Show was held at the Plaza Volare reception hall in Saint Laurent.

It concluded with two fashion shows showcasing the latest men's and women's fashion trends for the South Asian community.

“I think an event like this is very important for the South Asian community because representation is very important,” Masand said. “I think we have unique cultures and diverse cultures. I think it's a privilege and a unique opportunity to represent that and represent all of that, not only for the South Asian community, but the rest of Montreal, the rest of Canada, what the South Asian community has to offer.”
