The FBI has opened a criminal investigation into the collapse of the Baltimore bridge, an AP source told the Winnipeg Free Press

The FBI is conducting a criminal investigation into the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, which will focus on the circumstances leading up to it and whether all federal laws were followed, according to a person familiar with the matter.

The person was not authorized to publicly discuss details of the investigation and spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.

The agency said in a statement on Monday that the Federal Bureau of Investigation was conducting court-authorized law enforcement aboard the cargo ship Dali.

The investigation was first reported by the Washington Post.

On the morning of March 26, the container ship Dali left the port of Baltimore, loaded with cargo and headed for Sri Lanka, when it struck one of the bridge's piers and plunged into the Patapsco River, sending six crew members dead. the crew pushed to death.

Divers recovered the bodies of three people, the names of the other three victims are still unknown.
