Suspect in Calgary assault surrendered to police

Calgary police say the man accused of attacking Sue Higgins Park last week turned himself in after investigators released a photo of his dog.

According to investigators, on Wednesday, April 10, around 12:30 p.m., a woman was walking her dog near the north end of the park at 9770 15th St. SE.

Police initially said the woman's dog was attacked by a dog belonging to a man who was at the park, but later clarified that the dog was acting aggressively toward another dog.

Investigators said the man and woman began arguing and the woman tried to record the interaction on her phone, when the man knocked her to the ground and knocked the phone out of her hand before physically assaulting her.

According to police, the woman screamed and the man grabbed her cell phone from the ground and threw it over a fence as he walked away in an unknown direction.
