Search continues for missing teenager on beaches: Toronto police

Police say they are still searching for a teenage boy who went into the water Sunday night in Toronto's Beaches area and did not resurface.

Police said they were called to the Ashbridges Bay Park area around 6pm to reports of a missing person in the water.

Upon arrival, police said they learned that two civilians had gone to the lake to rescue the missing person but to no avail.

One, described as a male, was taken to Sick Children's Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The second person who tried to help, an adult male, was treated at the scene and released.

Several fire boats were dispatched to Lake Ontario near Dancers Boulevard North and Lake Shore Boulevard East to search for the missing youth Sunday night.

Police told CP24 Monday morning that the search was ongoing.

Emergency responders are searching after reports of a man in distress in the water in Ashbridge Bay on April 14. (supplied)
