Queen Rock Montreal sets Disney+ streaming release date

After Queen took the world by storm with their digitally remastered version Queen Rock Montreal the famous 1981 concert will take place earlier this year Disney+ For global broadcast from May 15.

Following the success of concert films and music documentaries such as Beyoncé's Renaissance: The Movie and Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, Queen Rock Montreal is the only Queen concert remastered for IMAX. The concert film will debut alongside various Marvel features in IMAX enhanced sound, including Ants & Wasps, Avengers: Infinity War, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Captain America: Civil War.

The historic concert, which featured Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon “at their funniest and most exciting,” took place over two consecutive nights in November 1981. The two-night concerts were arranged for a one-day film shoot. a full-length concert film and one of the band's most iconic concerts.

The concert film also comes six years after the 2018 release of Bohemian Rhapsody, which starred Rami Malek as the band's frontman. The film chronicled Mercury's life and the band's rise to fame.

Queen Rock Montreal brings back the iconic 1981 concert to the big screen

Queen Rock Montreal performed “Bohemian Rhapsody”, “Under Pressure”, “Another One Bites The Dust”, “We Are The Champions”, “Someone To Love”, “Killer Queen” and the famous stadium anthem “We Do”. Rock You”.

Queen debuted in the 1970s and has since become one of the most popular rock bands in the world. The two-night Queen Rock Montreal concert recorded at the Montreal Forum received a Blu-ray and DVD release in 2007.

“I don't think we realized it at the time, but this film captures one of the high points of Queen's touring career, on stage in the old glory days. The director (Saul Swimmer) put a lot of effort into Freddy, which is now the most expensive intimate shot of Mr. Mercury in his prime,” May said in a press release (via Forbes ).

Executive producers for the concert film, restored for IMAX by Mercury Studios, include Jeff Kempin, Alice Webb, Jim Beach and Matilda Beach.
