Motorcyclist killed in collision in Brampton

One person was killed in a collision between a motorist and a motorcyclist in Brampton Sunday afternoon.

The crash happened near Hurontario Street and Wanless Drive north of Sandalwood Park.

Peel Regional Police said they were called to the area just before 3 p.m

Speaking to the media at the scene, Const. Tyler Bell-Morena said the motorcyclist was traveling southbound on Hurontario when the driver collided with a silver Honda that was headed northbound on Hurontario and veered left onto the field.

“The sequence of events, what caused the collision, whether or not speed was a factor will be part of the ongoing investigation,” he said, adding there was no word on charges at this time.

Police said in a statement on X that an adult man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after the crash.

The victim who was driving the motorcycle later pronounced dead. He is a man in his 50s, police said.

The driver of the car remained at the scene.

The intersection of Hurontario and Wanless is closed and drivers are advised to use alternate routes as police investigate.

“As we process the scene, you can expect road closures until this evening,” Bell-Morena said.

The Peel Regional Police Major Collision Bureau is investigating.
