Man stabbed after fight on St James's Street: WPS

Winnipeg police say a man has been hospitalized after being stabbed during a fight on St. James Street early Sunday morning.

According to the Winnipeg Police Service, patrol officers and the Tactical Support Team responded to St. James near Ellis Avenue just after midnight for a report of a fight and stabbing.

According to the police, a man was found with serious injuries. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition and later stabilized.

A second man suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police added.

Investigators believe that a “group of private individuals” was involved in a fight and that an “edged weapon” was used.

The WPS Major Crimes Unit is investigating.
