Man arrested for allegedly assaulting Toronto police officer after saving him from apartment fire – Toronto

A man who assaulted an officer has been arrested shortly after being rescued by Toronto firefighters, police said.

According to first responders, the man was found hanging from the window of his third-floor apartment to escape the blaze.

Firefighters said they received a call at 8:30 a.m. about a house fire on George Street and Dundas Street.

Firefighters arrived at the scene to find a man hanging from the window of the apartment as flames and smoke poured out of it.

Police say the man assaulted an officer at the scene before being taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officials said the fire was successfully contained and crews remained on the scene as a precaution.
