Environment Canada says it's snowing in Montreal and the Eastern suburbs.

A snow warning has been issued from Granby to Lac Mégantic. Up to 15 centimeters of snow is expected in the eastern suburbs on Sunday morning, with more snow falling during the afternoon.

Montreal will get 10 to 15 centimeters overnight, according to a special weather statement for the region.

“Locally, travel can be difficult because we could have heavy snow. So if you're going to drive, be careful on the roads, especially the smaller roads,” Environment Canada metrologist Guillaume Perron told the CBC.

Perron said the next few days will be cold, meaning the snow will stay on the ground.

A low pressure system is moving over the central United States.

“It's going over the Great Lakes, which gives it a boost because of the moisture in those lakes,” Perron said.
