Habs loss, Rocket and CF Montreal win: great night

There was a lot of action in the Montreal sports world yesterday as there were several important games to watch out for.

With the exception of Montreal Canadiens prospect Jacob Fowler's win in the Frozen Four Finals, each of these pivotal games ended in the outcome we expected.

Here's a look at the evening's action in the Montreal sports world.

The Montreal Canadiens lost to the Ottawa Senators
The first game we saw last night was between the Habs and the Sens.

Martin St. Louis was in Kanata for its final game of the 2023-2024 season on Saturday night.

Even though the Senators are a rival club to the Habs and usually you want to win against rivals, last night's game was one the Tricolore couldn't win.

The Senators were only one point ahead of the Habs before the game, so the Tricolor could not overtake them in the standings with a win.

The Habs' 5-4 series loss isn't perfect because the Habs got points, but it's good news.

Although it did extend the Tricolor's streak against the Senators to nine games.

In short, the Habs have suffered a significant loss for the lottery schedule and are out of the top five.

Drafting in the top 5 would be the best possible scenario right now, especially given that it would give the Hubs more power to select the player they want.
Tij Iginla?

Unfortunately, the Habs still aren't guaranteed the 5th seed in the lottery standings, but yesterday's loss helps a lot.

Even with two points between now and the end of the season, the Habs still haven't caught up with the Ottawa Senators in the overall standings. Let's hope the Coyotes can win one more game before the end of the season.

It should be noted that in addition to the important loss, we were affected by two goals from Cole Caufield, who is approaching the 30-goal plateau.

Will he score three goals in the final two games of the season?
That would be really cool.

The Laval Rocket beat the Cleveland Monsters

Now we turn our attention to the AHL, where the Canadiens' practice club, the Laval Rocket, needed a win last night to keep their slim playoff hopes alive.

The good news is that the Rockets won 5-1.

It's an important win for the Rockets, who now need to win their final two games of the season, both against their direct rival, the Belleville Senators, for the final playoff spot.

These two games will be played next Friday and Saturday, April 19 and 20, starting at 7:00 p.m.
If the Rockets win both games in REGULAR TIME and drop Utica (currently in 7th place) by at least one point in their final three games of the season, the Rockets will advance to the playoffs.

It's an almost impossible scenario, but one we can believe.

After the final two games of the season against the Red Wings on Monday and Tuesday, it would be important for the Habs to give the Rockets their best chance by returning Jayden Struble and Justin Barron to Laval.

Also, let's see if Logan Maylow plays one of the two games with the Habs against Detroit.

In short, the Rocket season is less than a week away.

Let's hope we are given a few playoff games to put on a show and give the club's young players experience.

Club “Montreal” won their first game of the season at “Stad Saputo”.

Finally, the latest game on Montreal's sports radar was last night's MLS home opener for CF Montreal.

The club played its first game in front of its fans at the Stade Saputo stadium, beating Cincinnati 2:1.

Joseph Martinez opened the scoring with a great goal.

With this win, CF Montreal now has a 3-1-3 record, which puts them in 8th place in their conference, tied with Toronto FC among others.

CF Montreal ended a three-game losing streak with this big win.

Now let's hope that the game at home will revive Laurent Courtois' team.

En Rafale

– We can even add the victory of the Lions of Trois-Rivières to this wonderful day.

– “Arystanar” must win today to secure a place in the playoffs.

– The Lions can only lose if the Maine Mariners lose.

– Never celebrate until the end.

– It's a pity.
