“As part of our work on the largest public transit expansion in North America, our government is adding hundreds of additional GO train trips each week to communities across the GTA,” Premier Doug Ford said in a statement.

Ford notes that the extra trips save the average transit rider $1,600 a year.

Beginning April 28, commuter weekend train service will increase from every 30 minutes during the day and evening to 15 minutes on the West and East corridors between Oakville GO Station, Union Station and Durham College Oshawa GO Station.

For the first time, riders on the Kitchener line will have a 30-minute weekday service between Bramalea and Union Station during the lunch and evening hours.

The province will also add evening train service seven days a week on the Stouffville line, as well as an additional morning rush hour trip to Union Station for passengers in Milton and an afternoon rush hour trip from Union to Milton GO.

For those traveling to Pearson Airport, a second UP Express train runs non-stop between Union and Pearson seven days a week, offering commuters a direct and convenient airport transfer option.

“As Ontario's population continues to grow, our government is investing in a world-class transit network that connects communities and people to good jobs and affordable housing,” said Transportation Minister Prabmeet Sarkaria.

“We are on track with our plan to deliver more reliable, convenient two-way, 24-hour GO train service to passengers in the Greater Golden Horseshoe.”
