Gary Trent Jr. speaks before the Raptors' final game of the season

The Toronto Raptors play their final game of the season at Miami on Sunday afternoon. Tip off is at 1 p.m. and you can watch it on Sportsnet.

The game caps an extraordinary season that saw the team trade nearly half the roster, a player under investigation for a gambling scandal and the organization sued by the New York Knicks.

It's been a season that doesn't miss a single storyline. but CityNews spoke with Gary Trent Jr. before tipoff at the Raptors' final game. His comments come ahead of entering unrestricted free agency this summer.

What are your expectations for the last game (of the Raptors season)?

GTJ: Just try to build habits and prepare for next year and keep playing and keep going as a team. We have a certain standard that we must strive to win.

You've said on more than one occasion, “control what you can control.” You're going to be an unrestricted free agent this summer, and I know you've been asked what you're going to do for the rest of the season, but How difficult is it sometimes for you to focus on controlling what you can do, especially when decisions about your future are looming?

GTJ: It can be very difficult to manage at times. You can work your whole life for something, and if it doesn't go a certain way, you're bound to feel some way about it. But the only thing is how you approach it and how you come back from it and that shows who you are and that shows your work ethic. you might have a certain feature and that feature is gone now and then it comes back. So it's really about staying sane and trying to work and believe in what you believe.
