Downtown Toronto apartment fire: 1 hospitalized

One person was taken to hospital after a fire broke out in a five-storey apartment building in downtown Toronto early Sunday morning.

According to Toronto Fire, crews were called to 291 George St. around 8:25 a.m. Upon arrival, crews found a man hanging from a window trying to escape. “A person was rescued from smoke poisoning and taken to the hospital,” they said.

The fire has since been extinguished.
