Calgary's Muslim community celebrates Eid across the city

The Islamic School of Calgary was one of many places in the city celebrating Eid on Saturday.

The event was organized by the “Center for Community and Children's Development”.

Songs were sung and other cultural events were held there.

“Here we bring families and young people together and those young people help organize the event,” said school teacher Kaniz Fatima.

“The goal is for young people to get involved in social work and learn to be leaders.”

Eid-ul-Fitr is celebrated by Muslims all over the world because it marks the end of the dawn-to-sunset Ramadan fast.

The biggest Eid al-Fitr event took place this weekend at WinSport.
