5 things – Flames vs. Coyotes

2. Know your enemy

You can't keep a good dog.

With rumors swirling about the franchise's future on social media, the Arizona Coyotes shut out the noise, came out, showed all kinds of pride, character and passion and beat the Edmonton Oilers 3-2 in overtime on Friday at Rogers Place. .

“Our guys are showing how much pride they have, how much they care about each other and how much they want to succeed together,” Coyotes head coach Andre Turinni told reporters. “It's great to see them supporting each other and pushing in the same direction.”

Fittingly, it was franchise legend great Josh Doan, who and Mathias McChelly each finished with two points to help the club to its third win in four games on a five-game road trip.

McChelli hit the game-winner in OT, and Doan and Logan Cooley tickled the knot in regulation.

And Karel Weimelka made 38 saves and won his fifth game in his last seven games.

The Coyotes are currently 26th in the NHL (two points behind the Flames), but have been on a very late run, scoring the most goals in the NHL (76) since March 1st.

“I think we've adjusted,” Turinni said. “The Vancouver game was more emotional, to be honest,” Arizona coach Andre Turinni said. “I think today we were a little more calm and in control.”

Clayton Keller led the Coyotes (33G, 40A) with 73 points, followed by Nick Schmaltz (22G, 39A) with 61 and McChelli's 55 (15G, 40A).
