Winnipeg police are investigating a serious assault on Main Street

Winnipeg police are investigating what they're describing as a “serious assault” with a gun on Main Street early Saturday morning.

A spokesperson for the Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) told CTV News officers responded to a call about a woman being assaulted near Logan Avenue around 6 a.m.

They said the woman was seriously injured and a weapon was involved.

The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition, but has since been stabilized, police said.

WPS could not provide additional details on the woman's age or what weapon was used in the incident.

Also, there is no information about those arrested in the case.

The investigation is ongoing.
