Power outages in Ontario: Thousands still in the dark

Hydro One says it is still working to restore power to thousands of customers in Ontario after strong winds swept through the province on Friday and Saturday.

The utility says about 5,700 customers were without power as of Sunday morning during 87 outages.

Hydro One says it has restored power to more than 135,000 customers since the high winds began Friday evening.

Crews, including contractors and crews from other parts of the province, are said to be working full-time to help with the damage there.

Communities near Lake Huron and Georgian Bay saw strong winds.

Hydro One also says it is watching for rising water levels in northeastern Ontario that require a response.
