Popular food pop-up Gateau Ghost is opening its first permanent location in Toronto

A Toronto bakery pop-up that's been steadily gaining popularity both on social media and in the real world is set to open its first permanent location this spring.

When you think of madeleines, you might think of the cookie-cake hybrids sold at the counter at Starbucks — at least I do, but Toronto's Gateau Ghost offers a lot more.

Founded in 2022, Gateau Ghost founder Jaden Park is on a mission to “bring madeleines back from the dead,” and he's doing it by offering an ever-evolving menu of dressed gates in a variety of flavors, from Matcha Pistachio. Frozen flakes.

Since the project's inception, Tiny's General Store, Milky's, the Sonndr, and more. has hosted many successful pop-ups in its stores, but finally, it's time for Ghost to become a permanent haunt.

Gateau Ghost will make a permanent home in Little Italy at 947 College – formerly the recently closed Barocco X Nino coffee shop and bakery.

The new Gateau Ghost doesn't just serve madeleines, Jaden says in a recent Instagram post, but also offers a variety of baked goods, coffee (from Barocco), breakfast and a selection of natural wines.

While an exact opening date has yet to be confirmed, it's coming this May, and if Gateau Ghost's past pop-ups are any indication of its future popularity, you'll want to get in early.
