Police respond to an early morning fight on St. James Street

Shortly after midnight, emergency crews responded to a fight in the 1000 block of St. James Street.

General patrol officers, tactical support team members and paramedics arrived at the scene and found two men with injuries. One of the men was seriously injured and taken to the hospital in critical condition. The second man was taken to the hospital in critical condition. A third person was also taken to the hospital in unknown condition.

When crews arrived, a large pool of blood was visible in the parking lot where the first man had been found.

Officers cordoned off Smitty's parking lot with police tape while patrons and restaurant employees looked on.

Police are investigating the incident, but have not yet released any information.

News4.ca has reached out to the Winnipeg Police Service for more information on the incident.
