Montréal Canadiens @ Ottawa Senators

I'll tell you this: When Ottawa plays Montreal, I don't care about the standings. I want a great win to cheer the Sens fans home. With this being the last home game of the year in one of the toughest years in franchise history, I'm doubly so.

For those who care more about the draft tournament, here it is. Regardless of the lottery, both Montreal and Ottawa seem destined to go in the draft between 5th and 8th overall. Calgary and Arizona both did everyone a favor and won yesterday, leaving Montreal with the fifth-best odds and Ottawa behind. The last time these two teams faced each other, it was decided in favor of Ottawa, so…

Current NHL standings as of the morning of April 13, 2024 NHL.com.

With Tim Stützl expected to miss another game due to injury, here's where you line up alongside Joonas Korpisalo:

Meanwhile, that's what happened to Montreal in its last contest – an overtime loss to the New York Islanders. We expect Cayden Primeau to be the only change online:

Game Notes:

  • Sad to see Stützl miss the home finale against the Habs. He produced career highlights against them in his young career. Of course, the more important question is: Who will Brendan Gallagher complain about next?
  • The Habs were without injuries to Kirby Dutch, Joshua Roy and infielder Arber Hekage. Kaiden Goulet is listed as day-to-day, so we'll see if he's fit to make the team.
  • Former Sens first-round pick Colin White has appeared in 17 games for the Habs this season. He has no points and eight shots on goal in just over nine minutes per game.
  • While there are no active Sens players looking for late-season milestones, Sens legend is set to play his 1,000th career NHL game tonight against the Boston Bruins.
  • You can catch tonight's game at 7:00 PM EDT on CityTV, Sportsnet East and TVA Sports.
  • PS Belleville is battling Montreal's AHL affiliate Laval for a place in the AHL playoffs. Both teams will play at night, with Belleville's game against Rochester starting at 5:00 PM EDT. If they win and Laval loses against Cleveland (Columbus' AHL affiliate), the BSens magic number drops to one.
