Manitoba Opera warns against third-party sellers, scams

Manitoba Opera is warning patrons about third-party sellers and ticket scams ahead of the upcoming performance of Carmen.

In an email to CTV News, a Manitoba Opera spokeswoman said customers have asked the company why ticket prices are in US dollars and asked for “extremely high service fees.” A spokeswoman said the tickets are not on the Manitoba Opera website, but instead on a third-party seller's page.

“We want to be proactive in reminding people to know where to buy their tickets,” the spokesperson said.

In a release shared with customers, Manitoba Opera said the only way to ensure ticket validity is to purchase directly from the company, online, over the phone or in person.

It also said that third-party sellers may sell counterfeit tickets to customers.

For those who may be unsure, you can contact Opera Manitoba to confirm the validity of tickets before purchasing them.
