An annual job fair in Chahal focuses on construction jobs

Skyview MP George Chahal will host his annual job fair and education session for Calgarians looking to get a job or upgrade their skills.

Saturday's event will feature a number of organizations looking to fill hundreds of jobs and training opportunities, including Lafarge, Mattamy Homes, Enmax, the Calgary Construction Association, SAIT, CCIS, Women Building Futures, the Canadian Armed Forces and others. .

“It's no secret that Calgary has a housing crisis,” Chahal told the media. “One of the main reasons for our crisis is the lack of qualified workers.

“All orders of the government and members of the community must work together to solve these problems,” he added. “Bringing more housing and jobs to Calgary are my priorities, and hosting another job fair and education session is a great way to support the construction industry. This initiative will allow qualified specialists to enter the workforce.”

Educational and non-profit organizations will also be on hand to help participants learn about skills development and higher pay.

Information about the federal government's multifamily home renovation tax credit and rebate program will also be available.

The event will take place on Saturday afternoon from 3pm to 5pm at the Genesis Centre, 7555 Falconridge Blvd NE 10.
