An Air Canada flight from Toronto to Tel Aviv was canceled due to Iran's attack on Israel

Air Canada canceled Saturday's flight from Toronto to Tel Aviv “in response to current events in the region,” the airline said.

Originally scheduled to depart Pearson International Airport at 4:25 p.m., Air Canada said on its website that it had been canceled “due to government or regulatory restrictions beyond our control.”

The denial came hours after Iran launched dozens of drones and ballistic missiles toward Israel in an unprecedented attack.

The Israeli military said its air defenses were ready to attack and were ready to respond.

Earlier this week, Air Canada resumed flights between Canada and Israel after a six-month hiatus due to the conflict in the Middle East.

The federal government has urged Canadians to avoid traveling to Israel due to the increased threat of attacks.

“With the high risk of an attack on Israeli territory, the regional security situation remains highly volatile and could escalate without warning,” Foreign Minister Melanie Jolie wrote on social media on Friday.

“Canadians should consider leaving commercially.”
