A Toronto restaurant known for its waffles and desserts has closed for good.

Kensington Market's Belgian Sweet Corner, formerly known as Wafels & More, was a sweet spot for, you guessed it, Belgian waffles and chocolates before suddenly announcing their permanent closure via an Instagram post.

“It is with sadness and sadness in our hearts that we are forced to announce the closure of Belgian Sweet Pepper,” the statement said.

“We appreciate the opportunity to offer you our authentic Belgian waffles and chocolates, and we're excited to be a part of your lives, holidays and fun times.”

In response, heartbroken regulars and community members rushed to the comments section to share their frustrations and messages of support.

“Wow, that's really sad news,” one person wrote. “Thank you for all the delicious waffles over the years. What a treat!”

“Oh no! The best authentic waffles outside of Belgium,” wrote another. “Good luck guys! All right!”

The waffle shop's former home at 237 Augusta, which has two patios and a waffle iron, is listed for $179,000 by ReMax Ultimate Realty.

There's no word yet on what the future holds for the Kensington Market restaurant space, let's all just hope it's half as sweet as the Belgian sweet pepper's beloved waffles.
