4 Toronto Maple Leafs That Shouldn't Be On The Playoff Roster

Calle Jarnkrok

When people see Calle Jarnkrok's name on this list, one of their first reactions might be, “No, he's guaranteed a spot, what are you talking about?”

After all, Jarnkrok has been the Leafs starter in each of the last two seasons. With the ability to play on either line, as well as power play or penalty kill in all situations, he gives coach Sheldon Keefe a lot of flexibility in how to deploy him.

Along with his incredibly lethal shot, he might be one of the most well-rounded outside-four players on the team.

Additionally, Jarnkrok scored a career-high 20 goals for the Leafs last season. His numbers may have dipped a bit this season, but he still had 10 goals and 11 assists for 21 points in 52 games.

However, after suffering a sprained ankle a few months ago, Jarnkrok was sidelined for nearly a month after suffering a hard hit to the boards in a game against the Philadelphia Flyers.

There is uncertainty as to whether or not Jarnkrok will be ready for the playoffs. But the Leafs' best course of action would be to not add him to the playoff roster if he hasn't worked out yet and starts to get into game shape soon, because that might be necessary. it takes some time to get back up to speed after a long run.

When the game is fast and furious in the playoffs, playing him could actually put the Leafs at a disadvantage. However, in reality, the Leafs will add him to the lineup the moment he is deemed ready.

Hopefully Jarnkrok will surprise us and make me eat my words by being a key difference maker for the Leafs in the playoffs.
