4 Toronto Maple Leafs That Shouldn't Be On The Playoff Roster

Noah Gregor has impressed the Leafs brass with a pro tryout for training camp, so he signed a one-year contract through the start of the 2023-24 regular season.

Thanks to his combination of blistering speed, legitimate NHL-caliber shooting and penalty-killing ability, he was a bottom-six forward for the Leafs on the year.

He certainly didn't disappoint when averaging only about ten minutes a night, Gregor was a force every time he was on the ice.

Either he beat opponents with shots, or he contributed to the scoreboard with key goals at opportune times to help the Leafs win. In the first 28 games of the season, he had five goals and two assists for a total of seven points. (All stats from hockey-reference.com and naturalstattrick.com)

However, Gregor has been held out of action since mid-December and has seen his role gradually diminish significantly over the past few months in favor of the signings of Connor Dewar and suddenly rejuvenated squad enforcer Ryan Reaves.

With an undefined role until the playoffs, it may be enough to write Gregor off the active roster when the postseason begins.

His numbers aren't great, and the Leafs have identified better options. He's a useful depth piece, but like Jones, if you see him in the playoffs, it's a clear indicator that things aren't going well.
