A southwest Calgary community suffered extensive damage after two homes caught fire early Sunday morning.

The Calgary Fire Department received several calls around 2 a.m. about the fire around the 6600 block of Coach Hill Road SW, the release said.

All occupants of the buildings were evacuated until firefighters arrived. Alberta Health Services assessed some residents at the scene, but no one was taken to hospital.

Firefighters were able to contain the flames and remained on the scene throughout the day to ensure the fire was extinguished. The fire department said two homes would be “uninhabitable” and a third had exterior damage.

A Calgary Fire Department fire investigator is working to determine the cause and origin of the fire. Anyone with photos, video or information can contact the fire department at [email protected].
