Tim Bruch | CTV News

Tim Bruch joined CTV Calgary in the fall of 2019. Before joining the team in Cowtown, he reported in Edmonton, Winnipeg and Kelowna, meaning he's seen all sides of the weather spectrum.

Timm was born in Calgary and also spent time on the West Coast: he attended BCIT's Broadcast Journalism program in Burnaby, graduating with honors, and spent his early twenties in Vancouver.

His first full-time television job was in the Okanagan, where he reported on organic vineyards, flooded beaches and a hapless neighborhood cat shot by a stray bullet.

From there, he packed up his winter gear and headed to Winnipeg, where he covered the weird (the beginner pilot course behind which Timm actually piloted a small plane), the hard news (the police standoff, court reports), and the very scary segments (down the side of a downtown building streaming live TV). Eventually, Timm found his niche in politics. He likes to cover elections, budgets and even a scandal or two.

Tim joined the CTV News team in 2018. He spent his first year with the company in Edmonton, much of it in the legislature turning the microphone on provincial politicians. Since leaving YEG, Timm's highlights include leadership in the 2019 election and an intense fire season that sent him on an extended trip to Northern Alberta.

In 2019, he returned to Calgary. He couldn't be happier telling stories about his hometown.

In his free time, you can find Tim jogging, watching his favorite Blue Jays, or listening to a record from his overflowing collection.

Tim speaks English.
