The Lethbridge Cinderella Project helps graduates dress for success

As graduation season approaches, the cost of the perfect suit or dress can be a financial challenge for many families, which is why My City Care launched its “Cinderella Project.”

The organization has been conducting the program since 2017.

It is designed to help high school students achieve their dreams. According to the organizers, many teenagers do not go to 12th grade because they cannot afford to buy a dress or a suit, hence the project was born.

Last year, the program helped 57 students, and organizers are expecting similar demand this year.

“This year, we've had 40 sign ups,” said My City Care volunteer and program coordinator Tanya Lister. “And we've already gone through about 16 programs, so it's always hard to say, but we're very grateful for the support of the community to help as many graduates as possible.”

A volunteer team of personal shoppers guides students from start to finish.
