The Harper government is investing in improving public infrastructure in Winnipeg and Headingley

WINNIPEG, MANITOBA–(Marketwired – July 24, 2015) – Diversifying the Western Economy Canada

Today, the Honorable Stephen Fletcher, Member of Parliament for Charleswood – St. James – Assiniboia, on behalf of the Honorable Michelle Rempel, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification, announced $589,149 in support for three projects benefiting the Winnipeg region. Canada's Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program.

In the 2015 Economic Action Plan, the Government of Canada announced further support for communities with the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program. With a $150 million commitment, communities from coast to coast will support local infrastructure improvements, creating a lasting legacy as Canada prepares to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Confederation in 2017.

The Canada 150 Community Infrastructure program helps fund the renewal, expansion and rehabilitation of existing infrastructure that provides community and cultural benefits. The program is one of several infrastructure-related initiatives undertaken by the Government of Canada to build prosperity and prosperity across Canada.
